Travel & Accommodation

Stay

We plan to cover accommodation for everyone with a number of villas in and around the venue. But do let us know if you're interested in looking for accommodation independently/elsewhere.

Flights

The closest airport is Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru. It's a beautiful airport so take your time in there, but when you're done, there are taxis and ride-sharing app stations (Uber, Ola) just outside. The venue is a 35-minute drive away.

Explore

Amitarasa is near the Nandi Hills, an hour from Bangalore proper. You can explore the hills, a nearby 9th century temple, or go into the city by taxi. Bangalore is where Ruthvik grew up. It's known as the Silicon Valley and Garden City of India, and has a trendy breakfast, microbrewing and music culture.

If you want to venture out, take a longer trip to Mysore, the 'cultural capital of Karnataka.' We can help with contact info for taxis/car rentals, but note that Uber and Ola both offer long-duration car & driver hire from the app.

Bangalore airport is very well connected to the rest of the country. If you want to take this chance to visit other places in India, we recommend Mumbai for an exceptional food and culture scene (think: Bollywood), Delhi, Agra and Jaipur for the Taj Mahal and beautiful palaces, and Kerala for its natural beauty.

Questions?

What should I wear?

Traditional Indian outfits are encouraged where possible, but you are of course welcome to wear Western wear or whatever else you're comfortable in.

If you do choose to wear an Indian outfit, here's a brief guide: for men, kurtas are appropriate at all events; bandhgalas/Jodhpuris and sherwanis are great for more formal events like the sangeet and muhurtam. For women, kurtas and salwar kameez's are appropriate at all events, while lehengas are great for more formal events like the sangeet and muhurtam. Traditionally, women wear silk saris on the day of the wedding, but they are not easy to put on if it's your first time! MAYVE SUGGEST SPECIFIC SHOPS IN BANGALORE/online shops

What if I have dietary restrictions?

Our caterers will accommodate various dietary needs including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. Please mention any allergies or restrictions when you RSVP, and we'll make sure you're well taken care of.

Will there be transportation provided?

Yes! We will arrange shuttle services between the villa blocks and the venue for all events. Detailed schedules will be provided closer to the wedding date.

Do I need a visa or vaccinations to enter India?

There are no compulsory vaccinations for India, and optional ones are at your discretion.

You will most likely need a tourist visa, which you can request online. Please check for more details related to your nationality.

For Italians, all travel information can be found here. Indian eVisa and Viaggiare Sicuri.

How does a Hindu wedding work?

There are many variants of the traditional Hindu wedding. Ruthvik's family is from Andhra Pradesh, the Telugu-language state neighbouring Karnataka, where weddings tend to have at least the ceremonies we've listed above.

The specific rituals and their significance remain a mystery to Ruthvik too, but if you're curious, this Indian-wear studio has an informative website on the topic. We'll also have cards and people explaining the significance of the individual rituals on the day. Wedding encyclopedia .

What is the weather going to be like?

September in Bangalore is the late monsoon season, with average temperatures ranging from 20 to 28 C (68-82 F), and a moderate possibility of rain. The weather is normally breezy and not very humid.

Are children invited?

Yes, children are very welcome to celebrate with us! Please note that the venue is relatively isolated, but there are a few shops available within a short drive.

Good to know
  • Phone & Data: Data is cheap in India, so we recommend getting a local SIM from the airport if you're willing to endure the minor hassle.
  • Payments: India has an extensive and reliable digital payments infrastructure, but it's not terribly easy for non-nationals to tap into, so we recommend exchanging/withdrawing rupees from the airport—cash is still accepted everywhere. There will not be any ATMs around us at the venue, but of course Bangalore city is only an hour away. If you do want to set yourself up with digital payment capabilities, look for a "UPI One World" booth at the airport; they'll help you.
  • Language: Native Bangaloreans speak Kannada. Many locals will not speak any English, but Bangalore is metropolitan, and you usually won't be far from someone who does. In a pinch, you can always translate with your phone to Kannada or Hindi.
  • Shops and services: Although the wedding venue is isolated, you will find shops and supermarkets within a 15-20 minute drive.
